Water damged iPhone On screen volume control not available

My phone fell in a bucket of water. I switched it off and turned it on a few weeks later. Every think seems to work fine but there is no volume/onscreen volume controls!.

in the home screen the whole display seems to work, but in the music app the volume control on the bottem of the screen is blank?

why could this be?

thambu, to avoid failure caused by corrosion later on, I strongly recommend that you clean your phone. it is not important how long it was submerged, the simple fact that it was, can give you problems. Disassemble your phone using by following this guide. Clean it using this guide. It was written for a 3G but most certainly still applies. Make sure that you clean all connectors and cable ends and the dock connector as well. Once it is cleaned, replace the battery. Reassemble your phone and re-evaluate. Should you still not have a volume bar, replace the dock connector. For that follow this guide and the part is available right here. Without cleaning it, any answer will only be a guess since this can be caused be corrosion failure of SMD components on the board as well It may have been shorted out. Hope this helps, good luck
