DC-IN Board Compatibility with Late 2008 MacBook

Today I took a Late-2011 MacBook Pro (13-inch) onto my workbench and was troubleshooting it, it would seem that either the DC-IN board is shot or the Logicboard is dead.

On a separate note I have a DC-IN board for a late 2008 Macbook enroute to solve it's own problem.

My Question is, can I attach the DC-IN board for the 2008 Macbook to the logicboard of the Late 2011 Macbook Pro to see if the charger lights up. I know the shapes are different, so it doesn't fit, but being able to do this would be a huge help in troubleshooting the Pro. Also I can't seem to find anything online that says it shouldn't work.

The part for my Late-2008 MacBook came in, connecting it to the Logicboard of my Late-2011 Macbook Pro worked as expected. The DC-IN board lit up and functioned correctly while not necessarily being the right part. This has been a huge help in troubleshooting.
