phone went swimming, dark display

My iphone 5 (Model A 1429) was submerged in freshwater for about 30 seconds. I put it in rice for about 3 days. The phone now works normally except that the display is very faint. In a dark room with no windows/light you can just make it out. I can answer calls by swiping in the appropriate place on the screen. Would a teardown and thorough cleaing help? What part may be damaged?

Thanks

paul, even so "I put it in rice for about 3 days. The phone now works" I still recommend that you eventually clean it according to this guide. Even so it was written for a 3G all the steps are still pertinent to your phone. The failed backlight could be caused by a few things, like a bad LCD (the actual backlight is contained in the LCD) as bad coil and/or a bad IC. Those are contained on the motherboard.
