LCD Screen White Majority of Time Then Grainy Color

The LCD screen on my Panasonic DMC-TZ5 is white. Then a bit of wiggling and pressing in I got a grainy/pixillated image. This tells me that the LCD screen works, right!? The image turned out perfect when viewed on a computer from the SD card. I'm not sure if when it was put back together after cleaning the CCD sensor it wasn't put back together correctly. Before dissasembling it again I want to first mention that the friction lock on the larger ribbon connected to the front logic board broke so the ribbon is basically just set there. Would that cause the LCD screen to be white? Do I need a new front logic board or is there a way to replace the friction lock? Should I dissasemble and reassemble first?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-TN

tammy norman, the graininess could be a direct result from the ribbon cable not making proper contact. It will be difficult to solder a new connector to it. Try to hold it down tight with some Kapton tape and see if that makes a difference. The white LCD just means that your backlight works.
