Is it possible to bypass commercial ads

Commercial ads are nuisance is it possible to skip them any software available to eliminate the same or should we programme and install an embedded chip in the set top box to eliminate this nuisance and prevent the tv company becoming richer at somebody's cost

Thank you for the wonderful tip, is it possible to download the said software and install it in the set top box,i will be obliged if the procedures are explained to install them in the set top box.

Thank you for accepting my answer. What box is it? We should see if that might work. It is all a matter of firmware etc. May be a Tivo in between your box and your TV might work.

NARAYANAN LAKSHMANAN, to my knowledge, not while you are watching it. But DVR's now have a feature that skips the commercial on playback. I am not sure of course if something like TiVo would work for you. There is some software (cbreak) out that will let you "automatically" edit commercials on recorded AVI files.
