Hi guys,

Is it possible to update 2.4 GHz Macbook Unibody Model A1342 from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to 10.8.4 Mountain Lion? I'm not sure about it.

Your systems CPU - Core 2 Duo (P8600) is 64bit clean so there is no reason it won't work.

Also here's Apples TN on what systems are supported Mountain Lion supported systems Your system was introduced May 18, 2010 which makes the list.

You should up the memory min 4GB, better 8GB or best 16GB (matched modules, don't mix) PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz.

250GB HD is on the lean side. Think about upgrading it to a 1TB drive. Lion & Mountain Lion both want lots of free space on the drive (at least a 3rd of free space). If you have a lot of stuff you'll need to move it off to make space. Besides you'll want a backup of your stuff before you upgrade the OS. Get an external HD (USB2) or a WiFi connection to a NAS drive (best for speed over USB).

You still will want to get a 16/32GB flash drive to make a boot disk from your Snow Leopard OS first so you can check out your current HD and defrag it before installing your new OS. If you do upgrade the HD you can get a external HD case (USB2) to house your old HD in as your backup drive instead of the flash drive.

Lastly, you'll need to review your apps as Lion or Mountain Lion doesn't support OS-9 Apps and also requires 32/64bit clean apps.
