Battery percentage not changing after Rear Housing swap, restarting
Hello!!
Just a background on myself, i work professionally at a repair shop and have multiple years experience on many many devices.
I recently swapped the Rear housing on my iPhone 5 running ios 7 beta 3. I decided to swap to a custom Blue and gold theme and while tedious it was well worth it! The only problem i had was there was one Slotted screw(the one nearest the bottom of the logic board that the battery shield sits on top of)where the screws hole was slightly off, so i had to leave it out until i could reach a better screwdriver. When i turned on the phone everything seemed perfect!!!! But then after about 2-3 minutes a slightly grey tint shot down my LCD and the phone restarted itself. This seemed slightly different than the usual beta restart because of the tint but i figured it was just a bug. The other thing i noticed is that my battery meter/percent doesn't change it's reading until the phone is restarted(whether on it's own or by a person). Everything else on the phone works excellently.
I DID go back in and put in the slotted screw that i had left out and this did NOT fix the problem. Still restarting(but much much less often) and battery percent not changing. i Googled and didn't find anything so i came here!
Does anyone have an idea on what might be causing this?
I know that it could possibly be the battery itself, but the phone is less than 4 days old so i would doubt that. A friend told me to make sure that i transferred over the grounding clip on the charging port to the new phone. I did not replace the charging port and was unaware that there was a ground on the port.
Many have said that it is ios 7 beta, but i was running beta 3 on my previous iphone 5 and never experienced this.
Ideas? Thank you!
UPDATE - The phone also is not recognized by the computer until it is restarted!!!!
Is this a good question?
I don't know why your phone is doing that but I will share with you that my iphone 5 has recently started doing the same exact thing with the battery percentage not changing without a restart. Also my phone will periodically restart itself. I have had my phone around 6 months now and am running ios 6.1.4. I have not replaced the back housing or done anything to the phone. It is stock.

Hi
I run a company that fixes and customize all kinds of smartphone and pads. Iphone 5 is the most difficult because of lots of difficult errors like bad screens, bad sound, bad home button, idiotic powerbutton design and black screen problems. What I learned is thats VERY important to disconnect the battery before doing anything in the phone (including screen replacement)
I have the exact same problem with the battery meter after replacing the back housing with a see-through plastic casing. I tried to replace the battery but no luck. I replaced it back to a original casing, and the problem is still there.
I will now try to replace it again in a custom pink housing and will check this grounding clip (cant remember I have seen it)

I just replaced my battery in my phone and it was working fine for a week. I plugged it in overnight to wake up and see that it was still only at 26% from when I plugged it in, but it had the charging icon. I did a reset and the battery went down to 4%. When the USB was plugged into my iMac it would turn off and on while "charging". When plugged into the wall charger it just wouldn't charge at all. I've been trying to drain the battery by streaming video until it fully dies and it's only at 4% and it won't die. So basically I have the same problem...

Hi guys. I also have the same problem. I changed the back housing and it was working fine for a while. After I updated to Ios 7 it started with this problem. I noticed that it restarts if the battery consumption is high (for exemple if you use the flashlight + video recording). I was thinking to change the battery but apparently it will not help.
Another thing that I noticed is that after Ios 7 update it started to not be that smoth anymore (maybe that is normal because the CPU is less powerful).
If I find any solution I will let you know.
Cheers!

I have the same problem. Just bought my Iphone 5 used. It has the battery percentage stuck. It only changes when i restart the phone. It also randomly reboots when charging.
Tried most of the thing mentioned on the internett. (guides found on google) changing battery etc. Nothing has worked for me.
Did you ever fixed this problem?
