My iPod lock/sleep button is jammed inside the device

I recently dropped my iPod Touch 4G and the screen cracked. Additionally, my lock button got jammed inside of the device and I can't lock or turn it off without the assistive touch. I can't afford to send it back to the Apple Store to get it replaced and my warranty is up. How can I get it back to normal?

Options

You would need to open it up to see if its a bad button or if you damaged the ribbon and bracket that holds it in place.
