christine, without having all the information, the way I would proceed is to get a new drive, reinstall Windows on it, make sure that you have the proper disks for your OS as well as all the drivers for your laptop. After that, connect your old drive using a USB drive adapter and get your files off it that way. Hope this helps, good luck.

christine, give us a bit more information. Is that the error message you receive when you turn your computer on? which Laptop is it? what OS are you using? How long has this been going on? Have you backed up your data? Can you still access your files?
