power pads getting current but no boot

Problem:

- MB a1342 is not starting, nothing happens when the power button is pushed

Symptoms:

- magsafe led goes from green to orange and stays orange

- battery is charging as:

- I'm measuring 3.39v on one of the powerpads, 0v on the other, both on battery and on magsafe power

- when i bridge the pads, nothing happens (with or without keyboard cable inserted into logic board)

- SMC reset using <shift-ctrl-option-power> seems to work as magsafe led changes briefly to green, then back to orange

Any ideas what to do next, before I attempt to bake the logic board (which I've done before with and without succes :-) ?

Orange on the magsafe could indicate a ground problem. Bridging the power jumpers is not a universal fix... just a way to bypass faulty top case issues. If your CPU or other components are bad they'll still be bad.

Examining and replacing the DC-IN board is a relatively low cost painless starting point.
