Was doing SMC Reset, Got an X on the Battery Icon
So, I was having to do SMC Resets about once a week to keep my WiFi working, and I made the fatal mistake of becoming comfortable with the process. For some reason about two weeks ago I decided to pry the battery connector off with a metal screwdriver instead of my usual plastic iPhone spudger, and accidentally touched the metal nodes directly above the pin connector and saw a nice little spark. In a sweat drenched frenzy I plugged the mag charger in and saw the light turn green, and fired up the laptop and everything seemed to be working just fine...except the battery icon had the infamous X on it. As long as I had the mag charger connected the MacBook will stay on, but as soon as the dog comes tearing through and rips it out then the computer dies.
Hoping I'd only shorted out the battery somehow, I ordered a replacement battery. When I installed it, however, the X remained and the new battery also refused to charge. Several SMC and PRAM resets on both batteries has yielded no change. CoconutBattery says N/A on everything, system profile has all 0's under the battery info, my MacBook doesn't think I've got a battery plugged in. Anybody got any advice on a way I could maybe repair or replace the battery PIN connector on the motherboard (assuming that is the issue)?
Is this a good question?
