douglas, try to hold the power button and the home button for 10 seconds with iTunes open, after ten seconds release the power button but keep holding the home button for another 10 sec. after that, your iPod should show up in iTunes as an iPod that needs to be restored. Do this on the computer that you always use to sync your iPod, otherwise you will loose your data. Hope this helps, good luck.

this was working and then itunes says that i have to have unlock my ipod with the passcode
