Can I plug in my laptop without the battery?

My laptop battery needs to be replaced but I can't buy one right now. Can I just remove the battery and plug in my laptop? If yes, will it have negative effect on my laptop performance or hard drive? Please advise. Thank you.

batterynew dsad, you wouldn't be trying to spam on here, would you? I noticed that your other question has the same links, even so you are inquiring about a different computer and different situation.........

I no longer buy replacement batteries, but just run the computer with the battery removed. For trips I use an inexpensive DC to AC converter (Wal-Mart has them for about $25) and plug it into my cars DC outlet to operate at free wi-fi stations. Good luck.

Here is a link to one that OWC sells. Others are available.

I suppose there's no harm in doing so. I've had laptops where the battery had failed completely (dead, therefore not detected anymore) and they still work running off the AC adaptor only. If I unplug off the main AC, the laptops power off and die immediately,
