Why wont my brand new iPod 7th gen power on?

So my ipod decided to just not turn back on one day. Ive only used it 3 or 4 times total. I did let it die all the way last time i used it, but now it doesent even light up to indecate that it is charging. it has become completely unresponsive. I have tried resetting it, but there is no response. i have read online that a lot of other people are having the same problem but all they tell me to do is reset it. I have even tried plugging it into the computer. the computer wont even read it, and it does nothing. why would this happine?
