wifi antena removed, still gets wifi

Hi. The instructions for removing the wifi antena were great but it still can receive a signal when the device is placed on the router.

Options

The WiFi antenna only amplifies the ability to pickup a signal. So even with then antenna removed you can still get Wifi if you are close enough to pick it up directly from the router.
