MacBook Pro Teardown Photos Discrepancy

I have a 13' MacBook Pro mid-2012 (not Retina), and the IR port & sleep indicator are on the RIGHT side of the front apron. [as viewed from the front]

Your photos show these items on left side.

What gives?

thank you

Alan

Can you point out which picture you have a concern with? (please supply a URL link to it).

Remember the system is turned upside down when working on it so the perspective in context does matter here.

Thanks for straightening me out.

this all started when I was trying to figure out what the slot on the front apron was for, and therefore whether or not I could hide my music server laptop (or not).

Seems the slot is an IR port, so presumably I might need it someday.

FWIW I spent over half hour on phone with Apple tech support (trying to determine what it was), before they finally said that it did nothing. Same dumb response from the genius at the local Apple store.

Alan you are correct the IR port & sleep indicator are on the right hand side of the front of the system as you can see in this picture taken directly from Apples' web site when the system is in use:

Block Image

What I think has confused you here is how you open and service the system is done from the bottom so the you have to flip the system over. Which in that context would have the IR port & sleep indicator on the LEFT side with the systems front edge facing you. To help see this look at the pictures if the pictures were flipped over by mistake you couldn't read the text on the battery.

The pictures are correct.
