iPhone 5 Earspeaker and Front Camera Exchange don't work.

I recently exchange my broken LCD/Digitizer on my iPhone 5. Unfortunately i broke the contact point for the earspeakers on the proximity sensor/fornt camera cable.

I ordered an exchange part but when I install it, neither the front camera ist working nor the earspeaker. And as you might guess I need my earspeaker.

You have any suggestions how get at least my earspeaker working again? I'm desperately looking for solutions but 'till now nobody was able to help me.

Thanks in advance!

hi jonathan, sorry to hear the repair didn't go so well.

the flex cables are fragile indeed. normally just replacing it would have fix your problem. i do have to say i bought iphone 5 full screen assembly before, camera and earspeaker incl. 7 out of 10 did not work! or the camera or the ear speaker were faulty.

maybe you just have a bad cable

Jonathan, I had the same issue. I even went back in and replaced the flex ribbon and speaker for the camera/ proximity sensor and yes, the two gold contacts are for the ear speaker.

Even after installing a new ribbon and speaker, still no sound from the ear speaker. This is an Apple problem.

I repair all types of devices and Apple is the only manufacturer that I have had issues like this with. I had an Iphone 4S that needed a new power button. Replaced the button and flex and after booting up, the phone was stuck in search mode. It never saw the status of having a sim card or no sim card.

It seems to me something in some Apple devices does not like having things disconnected.

So it seems guys like us are just out of luck when this happens. Just take solace in the fact it is a hit and miss when it comes to the Apple devices.

Had THE Same problem on à copple off iPhone 5's, phones weer returnd with a mic problem... In the first cases I changed the mic by installing a new one, after a while I tried to fix the problem using the same mic, and it did work ! Just check that the flex cable is placed correctly and check the golden contact points well so there in touch with the microphone springs, in most of the cases it's just a bad connection...

To bobby : if you take an iPhone apart en disconnect the battery there always a possibility that the iPhone automatically changed he's date and time. If you check your date and time you will see that the date changed and now is on 01-01-1970 when dis problem appears the iPhone won't reconize the sim or will be stuck in searching mode... To fix this problem just connect the iPhone to the Internet by wifi go to settings general en set change date and time automatic normally this should solve your problem...

Hope this was a help
