iMac 24" will not power on (logicboard or power supply?)

I have a iMac 24" (A1225) which will not power on anymore.

power on button gives no responce.

Looking at the status LED's i have the following behaviour:

Power cord connected.

LED 1 is on.

pressing power on button,

LED 1+2+3 is on, fan starts running, then after 2-3 seconds all LEDS out.

iMac does noting. Also LED1 stays out.

After taking of the power cord en reconnecting it LED1 is on again and the whole sequence can be repeated.

Is this a power supply failure?

or a logic board failure?

Update

last digits of the serial nr: ZCT

Update

Update::

I had no boot chime.

Just the LED sequence as mentioned above.

I removed the videocard and now it is giving me the boot chime.

And it stays on !

So i think a new video card is the answer.

Can i put a GT130 card in this machine ??

Hi Rene- so in the end it was a the power supply that was defective? I am having the exact same symptoms as you and the exact same LED results you had during your tests. LED 1 is on when I plug the A1225 into power. I press the power button and LED 2 lights up, LED 3 goes on for a fraction of a second, and halfway through the startup chime, the whole computer loses power and all LEDs go out. I unplug the computer and plug it back in, and LED 1 is on again. Any help would be much appreciated!

Does the PSU look like this? If so THIS GUIDE may assist in testing the PSU voltages.

I wouldn't mind betting the voltages on the 6 pin connector are similar so you may want to measure the voltages on the 6 pin connector using the chassis of the iMac as the reference point (ground/earth) and see what you get. Also check the diagnostic LED's - remove the RAM cover to see them or you can follow THIS GUIDE for a better view. The service manual also suggests resetting the SMC, re seating the RAM. Also try booting with only 1 RAM module installed and also try each RAM module in both slots.

OH also do you get a boot chime at all?

I Plug the iMac in, LED 1 would light up; press power button then LED 2, 3 and 4 would turn on then all LEDs turn off. I then tried unplugging the inverter (and Video cable to the LCD)... I got it to boot with external screen and will replace the power supply.
