Why is my iPhone lock really slow?

my iphone 3 (model MB702LL) will not unlock fast... i will sweep the "slide to unlock", but it takes atleast 10 or 5 seconds, then it asks for my password... is there a way to make it faster? If so, how?

It's an iPhone 3. It's outdated and the software will always be slower than usual!
