Hold switch cable/ribbon broke

iPod nano got washed. Trying to repair the screen and upon removing it from shell, it broke. Does it have to be connected in order for it to work?

Chosen Solution

The iPod will work without the hold switch, but it is annoying. To fix it, you need to replace the logic board.
