logicboard replaceable in a Early 2009 Unibody?

Hello!

I just noticed Apple has quad core MacBook Pros and i was wondering

Can i buy a i5 or i7 logicboard and swap it out or would i have to swap more parts out if i do this?

Can apple do this for me?

I'll have a better answer whenever I have access to the new machines, but judging from the part numbers, they changed the majority of the parts in the new machines, making it unlikely to have an easy logic board swap.

I'll be sure to update when we get the new machine!

Even if it is technically possible, it's definitely not the best financial move. An i5/i7 board is likely going to run you way north of 1K, and then you're going to end up with a frankenstein machine that Apple won't touch with a ten foot pole. Unless you're wanting to do this out of sheer curiosity, I'd sell your existing machine on eBay, and then come up with the extra $500 it will cost you to make up the difference between that and a new model. You'll be saving yourself a lot of headaches. Not to mention, from what I've seen it usually takes a while before new boards are even available, unless you're willing to pay Apple a totally ridiculous price for one.

Having said that, if it is technically possible, and you have a machine with a fried/liquid-damaged board, then getting a replacement i5/i7 board for it may in fact be an interesting opportunity....

I have looked at the side view

I would have to buy a whole new unibody enclosure or top case which is like 900$ or more new or used

Anytbhing else not swappable?
