help to choose an os x!

Hi,

I have a problem with my MacBook Pro i bought online. It does turn on, but it get stuck on a grey screen with the apple logo and a spinning gear. I have already asked this question on this forum and they told me that installing the OS-X again will fix the problem. But my problem is that I don't have any idea what OS to buy, (I don't have any disks). I've heard that I have to use the OS that came with the computer.

Options

You can get the original system installation disk from Apple for $16 plus tax and shipping. To find out what that is please give us the last three figures of your serial number. This also sounds more like a hard drive cable problem to me.
