Upgrading MacBook Core Duo with Seagate Momentus XT 750

I am looking to upgrade my MacBook Core Duo (2006) with this drive, Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB but how do I check which SATA connection I've got? Is it complicated/costly to replace it to SATA III?

Thanks!

I've installed several of these with no problem. It is a SATA II but is backward compatable with your machine. Here's the manual on it: http://www.seagate.com/files/staticfiles...

So is my MacBook SATA I? Will it make it less fast compared with SATA II? Is it worth/possible upgrading the connector? I'm a newbie in the field of hard drives. Your help is much appreciated.

The BUS speed on the older MacBooks is 1.5 Gb/s. The newer drives run up to 6 Gb/s. But it's also a faster rpm drive. I've seen noticeable speed differences on older machines. You are limited by the BUS, but this is a very good, fast drive for your machine.

Thanks for your quick reply. Do I just replace the hard drive and reinstall everything? Is there a comparable/cheaper alternative, rather than buying a hard drive which is way better than my limited BUS speed?

In the end, I think I will go for an SSD Samsung 840 Pro. Will that work well on my computer? Thanks.
