Carbon Copy Cloner is unbelievable. Best to save all media, documents etc on an external drive if you can, that way the clone process is faster. The best part is that the clone you make is bootable, so you don't need to reinstall the OS etc, you just boot from the external drive (hold down the option key on startup and chose the external drive to boot from), use that to format etc the new drive using Disk Utility and then clone you "whole" computer back to the new drive.

I just did that and apart from the 30 minutes it took to clone my whole computer and clone it back onto the new SSD (2.5” SSD SanDisk Extreme II) , the swapping of the drives took about 5 minutes. The step by step guide was perfect.
