Try resetting the SMC

  1. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord, mouse KB etc..
  2. Wait at least 15 seconds. The SMC reset occurs automatically once the iMac has been unplugged from the AC power source for several seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
  4. Reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
  5. Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.

Try reseating the RAM as a first start and advise. If you have more than 1 RAM module try booting with only 1 module at a time and try each in both slots to see if it is a slot or module issue.
