Anybody know what this black plastic rectangular peice is?

Friend gave me an iPhone he tried to take apart without me. Got stuck and I put it back together for him. This piece was left over though and since I didn't take it apart I have no idea where it goes.

Anyone know? Thanks!

How big is the piece? It looks like it has broken off something?? Nothing jumps out when I go through the teardown to identify this item
