Hi, after replacing the home button I have a small piece of rolled up cloth left over. see both links

Is it essential? and how and where do i put it back?

In the tutorials I can see it positioned between the outer shell and the dock connector cable, but nowhere is mentioned that it can come loose, or how to put it back or how to attach it

secondly; is it possible that because of that missing part my screen is litting up dim.

It's a grounding cushion. Not a critical part but for the sake of perfect repair, you may want to put it back.

thanks,

Can i just lift of the backside and push it back in on the spot where we can see it on the picture? (as long as it touches the outer shell)

Or do i have to disassemble more parts, and is there another critical part it has to touch?

Try to squeeze it in
