Are the 922-7183 (Core 2 Duo) keyboards compatible?

My keyboard is damaged from a liquid spill and needs to be replaced.

I'm from Singapore, and since iFixit doesn't ship there, I'm looking for keyboards on eBay.

Apparently for my model (A1226), the keyboard part no. is 922-8035 and according to other posts on this forum, the other models' keyboards won't fit. However on eBay I can only find listings for "Core 2 Duo" keyboards, most without part nor model numbers, and even more confusingly, some that claim to be compatible with all models.

The few that do provide part numbers have exorbitantly high shipping rates and I would only consider as a last resort.

Can someone clear up this matter for me? Or point me to a (reasonably priced) ebay page? I do not mind the Swedish or Norwegian layouts as I can touch type Dvorak.

e.g. is this ok?

Thanks.

While I can't say 100 percent for sure, that keyboard should be a direct replacement for your machine (judging from the picture).

Here's the history of the original MBP 15" keyboards..

The Core Duo (Model A1150) was the original

The Core 2 Duo (Model A1211) was redesigned internally, and the caps key wouldn't work in a Core Duo machine

The SR (Model A1226) had a different screw layout (12 screws, as opposed to the 10 in previous models) and no side tabs. Therefore, it would not work in earlier machines.

The Penryn (Model A1260) features a different key layout, but the same connectivity as the previous model.

I hope this is helpful!

Here is a reasonably priced unit but I don't know about shipping. Check the left side of the ad list several other computers it will work in. Perhaps one of those is available to you. Good luck Ralph
