Keyboard and Power Button Won't Respond

Recently, my HDD was corrupted, so I had to resinstall my OS.

However, a new issue arrived, my Keyboard and Power button won't respond at all (though I still have the backlight working on the keys). I can't do an SMC for these obvious reasons (which may fix the issue).

I didn't spill anything on my computer or damage it, etc.. I also checked if the Keyboard ribbon is plugged in (it is). Not sure what I can do to fix the issue.

I didn't spill anything on it (no liquid damage). Some of the keys do respond, though are erratic and don't represent what I'm pressing (space bar may be a 9, or something like that).

Just to be clear here: Your OS is loading and you have your desktop showing, correct? Your trackpad and button are working, correct? So you are able to shut the system down using the menu pull down (or you just putting it to sleep).

Double check the connections on the ribbon cable to the logic board. Ensure the connection is square, and if there's a ribbon connection that the ribbon is "right" side up, slid in all the way and the cam was opened before insertion and locked after.
