Screen not working after reassembly. Worked fine before assembly don't

A small amount of display cleaner spray got into the keyboard causing erratic key input after.

Some keys were affected, some not.

After careful research I decided to tear down the MacBook and try to remedy the problem.

Using the iFixIt teardown guide, all went well until I got to the minute 50 and some odd screws holding the keyboard assembly down. I decided not to go any further.

After reassembling, I get no display on the screen. Screen was operating fine before teardown.

Key strokes still the same as before.

I am now using a mini display to HDMI connector to view on the HDTV, and an Apple external USB keyboard and everything is fine. What could the problem be?

I have since performed another teardown this time past the point of removing the keyboard.

All of the connection were fine except I did notice the keyboard ribbon connector had some broken traces on some of the lines going into the connector.

Sounds like you may have damaged the two ribbon cables (video & keyboard). I would recommend you review the iFixIt guide again Upper Case Removal to see what step you had difficulty with.

At this point it sounds like you'll need to replace at least the keyboard cable (damaged?) which is part of the upper case and can't be replaced by its' self. As you have problems with the keyboard you need to replace the upper case anyways so this is not to big a loss.

As for the display cable hopefully you only failed to seat it correctly. If not you may need to replace it which you can do (a bit more work). And you may have blown a fuse which may also need to be replaced, are you able to solder very small components?

The question here is do you want to give this another go? Or do you think you want to let someone with better skills fix your system. There is a point when you have to decide what is best here on getting your system back in working order.
