No startup chime, mechanical sound, front led light up for 1 second

MacBook Pro A1260.

I've replaced the HDD with a SSD (Crucial M4), the Apple Battery with a generic one (Novodio) and new RAM (2*2Go)

Everything has been working fine for the past 2 months.

Yesterday I went to work and let the computer on, with power adapter plugged. When I came back at mid day it won't come out of sleep mode. I'm almost sure the power went down in the house so the battery was empty.

I let it charge but now it won't boot.

When I press the power button I do get a mechanical noise, the screen stays black, the front LED light up for about 1 second and then everything stop.

If I try to boot without RAM I've got a loud noise every 3 or 4 seconds.

If I try one RAM slot and then the other it's the same as in the beginning (LED light up for only 1 second)

If I keep power button pressed for 10sec the front led flicker and then goes off.

What else can I try ?

Are you using an 85 watt AC adapter?

by

Yes. I'm using an 85w Adapter. The official one from Apple.

Are you able to see any image when you shine a flashlight though the Apple logo in the lid (poor mans backlight) or using an external monitor? If not you may have the famous NVIDIA GPU failure.

Apple has announced it will no longer service this model next month.

I would get to an Apple Store ASAP to get the logic board tested (they have a special test tool) if it is the GPU. You should be able to get the logic board exchanged out just for a flat bench fee.

From what I've seen ont other threads I should have a solid front led light if it were the GPU.

I can't try with another screen right now but I'll try as soon as possible and I'll keep you updated

I've tried with an external monitor and nothing appears on the screen.

I'll bring it to an apple certified reseller and see what they tell me.
