Replacing same model number keyboard, but different year?

I'm in the process of prepping myself to replace my keyboard (not upper case) due to water damage. I've already ordered the correct tools, I have the step by step guide and now all I need is the same keyboard.

Only issue I have is that all the keyboards I've seen online to buy have my laptop's model number (A1286), but have later years. I'll find one that says "Macbook Pro 15" Unibody A1286 keyboard," but will be 2009, despite the fact that mine is mid June of 2012.

The keys basically look the same, with the exception of one key that is slightly different, that I would hardly use. I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly when I begin tearing down my laptop.

Not so fast here... Your model keyboard has rivets or a mix of rivets and screws.

In your case you'll need the whole upper case Vs the keyboard assembly.
