Flex Cable Over Speaker Enclosure?

What does the square shaped flex cable that goes over the iPhone 5 speaker enclosure do? I ripped it prying the screen off and as far as I know everything on the phone still worked except possibly the front camera freezing. Could this have caused that?

the square cable is part of the lower antenna. not having anything to do with the front camera. You may also have damaged the front camera/ sensors flex cable or not plugged it back properly.

The front camera is freezing? Or never opens. If it never opens its likely that its the flex cable for the camera. I know it is on the 4s.
