Early 2011 model 13" macbook pro , I changed out the battery as it had swelled and touchpad and battery not working , new battery charges and touchpad works again but the computer doesnt recognize the battery ...help!!

Try installing the battery in another like system if you can. Does it react the same way? If you don't have access to another system to do this. Try running AHT to see if it finds something.
I suspect you have some other damage on the logic board or the battery is defective. Did anything leak out and get on to the logic board?

No visible damages to logic board. nothing has leaked from the original battery, Ryan from ifixit is going to send another battery so perhaps the 1st new replacement has a problem in it , I will know next week
I dont have another system I can try the battery in

Coconut is already on the machine but as it doesn't recognize the new battery its useless
