How do I repair on/off button?

I have the early 2009 revision of the A1181 MacBook.

I live in secondary city in Brazil. Not a lot of Apple expertise here.

Local repair shop says that on/off switch is bad, and I need a new keyboard. But, they cannot find parts to repair

What can I do?

Are you certain its just the button?

There's a lot of circuitry involved on the top case/keyboard from the button (basically two just foil strips) to the ribbon connector which carries power to track pad, function keys etc.

Did you open the case yourself? Many amateurs pull the male connector right off the logic board when opening a MacBook for the first time!

So purchasing a top case/keyboard replacement could solve the problem, but if it's more than simple damage to the "on/off" button that's no help.

Have you looked inside? Can you compare what you see to the guide?

Good Luck,

N.
