Is this piece crucial? It fell off during teardown?

This piece fell off while I was taking apart my iphone.

is it crucial for the phone to function properly? I have no idea where it goes...

That is the earpiece speaker. If you want to hear phone calls that are not hands free, you need this part. During repair it is installed with the foam ring down, the pins facing up (with the tips facing towards bottom dock of iPhone). The bottom of Logic Board directly touches these speaker pins.
