The background noise using Audacity with the internal microphone is too high to make usable recordings for broadcast.
If I use an external USB microphone the noise isn't there.
There is also very high noise on receiving end of Skype calls(sounds like a truck driving through the room I am told)
What could be the problem?

Your facing a common problem here. The type of microphone had a big impact on what you're recording.
Here's a good write up on the differences Directional Characteristics
The microphone mounted on the MBP is designed for FaceTime (wide angle and mid distance) and use an Omnidirectional design. In the case of an iPhone it has two Cardioid microphones so it can do background sound cancelation and has a limited sensitivity so it does not pickup sound at a distance unlike the MBP microphone.
Even the construction of the microphone can make the angular pickup very narrow and even amplify it so you can hear a distant conversation.
So if you want something for broadcast you'll want to invest on a good set of microphones and use the correct one for the task.

So how do we STOP the Noise? Mine sounds like it is hearing the FAN!

One of the first things I would do is make sure the systems cooling system is not being blocked, like sitting on your bed. You may need to clean the dust buildup internally as the fans maybe blocked but dust and/or the logic board covered in dust (older systems often need this)
Invest in a better set of mics (don't use the internal)
Apple has made a large effort to improve the mics in the new 16" MacBook Pro and from what I have heard in the review they vastly improved the quality!
