Won't charge and getting hot

My iPhone 4 has been dropped once and cracked my front screen, that was over 9 months ago and since then it's been in an otter box. Recently I noticed the top right corner of my phone (when looking at screen) was getting VERY HOT! It also will not charge past 57%.. Can't afford a brand new phone but maybe some repairs. Please help me out

start with replacing the battery. i don't think the cracked screen has anything to do with it
