Screen not working after front glass replacement...

Hello All,

I normally do repairs on iphones and had a friend bring over a Samsung Galaxy S3 that he tried to replace the front glass on and for some reason the screen does not turn on. The phone turns on, the lights illuminate on the front glass, I can receive calls but cannot see who is calling because the front glass is not working... What can it be? I checked all the connections possible...

Chances are you have a broken LCD.

He just replaced the glass and I figured that he damaged the LCD in some way... Now my question is there a difference between changing the front glass or the full assembly?

Changing just the glass won't have the transparent glue between the LCD and glass but performs just the same. You could get dust in the future if not sealed properly.

If you have the full assembly (lcd,glass,digitizer) it comes with the glue in between so no dust in the future. But it's expensive. It sounds like you're gonna have to go this route.

I've read this problem here before, solutions included:

Assuring the new screen connector is lined up properly inside the phone (something about matching the lines)

Some screen replacements simply not working with certain phones

Hardware defect.

To rule out last option, reinstall old screen, if it works its the new screens issue.

Thank you for your response.

I have replace twice new glass with no connector it work fine. The motherboard is working just fine. Plug usb port to pc it detect the phone profile onforrmation.

But I'm not sure what you mean by NEW SCREEN CONNECTOR. Can you show me an image?

I have the same problem. The installation went fine. But now the phone turns on but no display. I can still receive call but cant see who is calling etc. the LED lights up and the 2 buttons at the bottom light up except for the actual screen.

Replaced both digitizer AND lcd. connectors and fine. phone charged but when i power on, the phone only puts out a buzz/vibration. no screen no lights. EXCEPT FOR A RED LIGHT. any input???
