Power button flex assembly to replace

Power button on my iphone 4s is stuck. I read the guide on ifixit but I'd like to have some advises or opinion on repairing.

Honestly, how is it difficult to replace it? I should decide whether buying repair tools and flex assembly or sending to the assistance.

I know that it is hard to quantify the difficulty level, but I'd like to kwow if it easy to fall into error.

I'm not an electronic expert, but sometimes I get pleasure from repairing items. For example, I replaced battery on my old iPhone 3G without big problems.

Thanks

go for it, you have to take the entire phone apart but you are at the right place if you have some questions

Don't replace the flex. Just replace the yellow tape with the black dot on it. The dot is missing on your yellow tape (the button just doesn't reach therefore it doesn't click). Sometimes if you look carefully you can find it in the casing near the power button and just super glue it back on. If you replace the flex 8 times /10 you will have proximity sensor issues.

Ok, so if I didn't find the dot in the casing, I have to buy a new flex and replace only the yellow tape with the black dot?

do not just replace the yellow tape. that's just a temporary fix and will come loose again. and you will have 0 out of 10 problems with the proximity sensor because its an iphone 4s. iphone 4 is a different story. have a nice repair

I don't know what you're talking about being a temp fix. I do these for a living and to this day I haven't had a single warranty.

If you can find the dot then you don't need parts and can just glue it on top of the yellow tape. If you can't find it then you may need to order the piece in which case you can just swap it over.

The trick to swapping it without touching the tape with your fingers or multiple surfaces or else the tape looses its stickiness. There's 2 metal layers under the tape so those have to fit in properly into the plastic where the yellow tape sticks onto. Email me if you need more assistance. Info@yolorepair.ca
