Can glossy screen be changed to Hi-Res Anti-Glare?

Hi,

My macbook pro screen just cracked for no reason. Now i am assuming the screen is glossy. Can i get the Anti Glare screen and use that instead or do i have to order the glossy screen only ?

Is there a way to get the difference in both screens ?

Thanks

The cover glass is the key here is it glossy or anti-glare (matt) finished? That will tell you what you have now. Does the screen work at all? If it does maybe all you need is the cover glass.

If your screen is not working and you want to get an anti-glare screen to replace it you'll need to get the same 1,440-by-900-pixel resolution. Apple doesn't sell one but there are some third party suppliers who do offer them.

It is a fair amount of work pulling the display out if you decide to do it your self. There is a few outfits that will do all of the work. Either by you sending in the entire system or just the display assembly.

Thanks for the reply Dan. I did take a look at the guide and it seems its quite some work as you mentioned. Do you know anyone in New Delhi/ India who does this ?

Btw only the glass on the screen has cracked, the display is alright from what i can see.

Thanks

Sorry - I'm in the States, can't tell you of any outfits in your neck of the woods.

The cover glass is easier to replace than the entire LCD unit from the lid at least. The cover glass can be gotten online.
