Backlight not working after wine spill!

Hello,

After a wine spill on a 2011 Macbook air (A1369 EMC 2469) the backlight isn't working anymore.

The MacBook works fine, lcd is still functioning. Connected to a external display it also works fine, so it is probally not the graphic chip.

Did some research online, and found some hits about the fuse.

Does anyone have documentation about this fuse or what the problem could be.

Check the LVDS cable connector and the LVDS socket for any damage then also verify with a multimeter if the backlight fuse has continuity.

Where can i find the backlight fuse?

Sorry for the many comments, but on the last picture is this the fuse? with the P on it.

Multimeter gives me no continuity, so its blown.

Your logic board is in bad shape: LVDS socket and backlight fuse are damaged and we don't know yet about the led driver. You have three choices: replace the logic board, find a repair shop that has the tools, parts and expertise to replace the damaged components or use the machine as a desktop machine with an external monitor.

Before you worry about any fuses did you fully clean the wine out of the system? Make sure the right corner hinge area is clean (were the display is connected to the logic board)

Logicboard seems to be clean, will take it out and will clean the other side too.

Your pics show a lot of burn damage on the logic bd and the LVDS connector. The traces maybe damaged beyond repair here. As Lemerise stated below your likely going to need a new logic board. Sorry guy ;-{

tonversteeg1, yes the "P" is a fuse. Your display connector appears to show a lot of damage, so you may have to repair the connector as well as the circuit to it. That may be the reason for you bad fuse as well. The fuse is a 2AMP-32V 0402-HF and for more information on the fuse, check on here http://elcodis.com/parts/117249/0435002K...

I agree with oldturkey, the P ic is the backlight fuse. Both the LVDS socket and connector are damaged et must be replaced. There's also a possibility of a LED DRIVER damage.

Ok, thanks for comments.

Will order a new LVDS connector and a LVDS cable.

Only need to find someone who can do the job.

Does this Macbook pro LVDS connector also work?

I would contact ebay sellers who advertise the LVDS connectors and ask them if they have your MBA connector in stock. The backlight fuse may be available online at http://www.digikey.com but I don't know your MBA fuse specs...sorry.
