Why MacBook won't sleep when lid is closed? Also, other problems...

My MacBook will only sleep for a few moments when I close the lid until it wakes itself up. I also occasionally get a weird alphabet while typing. Plus, when I click on a link in a browser, it downloads the HTML page to my desktop instead of opening it. The problems all arose at the same time. I re installed the OS and disabled the magnets

trying to address the problems but that didn't help. Thinking it's a hardware problem, maybe with the logic board? Please help!

maybe you should start with a SMC reset and a PRAM and NVRAM reset

if that wouldn't help - maybe you should remove the topcase and see if there is any sign of a fluid damage (white/green/brown/black powdery stuff - looks sometimes like mold)
