PS 3 Error message 8002f14e

I keep getting this error message everytime I try to do a system update. It is stuck in a loop. Everything that I have read points to the blu-ray drive. I made sure all connections are connected correctly. How can I tell definitely if it is the blu-ray drive for sure. Please help. This one is killing me.
