Dropped Ipod. It showed all content but would not play. Tried to restore in ITunes. Then got red circle with X. Called apple for help. Tried to get it into disc mode and diagnostic mode and both failed. What can I do?

GReg, red circle with X is most common for hard drive failure. Get yourself a USB-to-Zif adapter, disassemble the iPod using this guide. Check all your connections and make sure they are properly seated. If they are, remove the drive (if you have a USB-to-Zif adapter, try and access the hard drive with that. However, it is most likely your hard drive. Hope this helps, good luck.
