Can you replace earpiece speaker w/out removing entire cable assembly?

Do you have to remove the entire power button/proximity/cable assembly from the phone when replacing ear piece speaker on 4s? Can it not be simply pryed away from the cable and then stuck back down like the ATT and Verizon 4 models without all the extra steps of getting the button and proximity sensor and cable away from the frame of the phone? After watching multiple videos and reading different repair guides, it seems that most people just remove the cable, unstick the speaker, restick new speaker and then reinstall cable. Why can't this be done without removing the entire power button and flex cable from the phone?? I want to do it right, but it seems like it could be done without the extra steps and headache of removing the entire cable/assembly.

yes you can replace it without removing the cable the only difference (with iphone 4) is there's a small black metal piece holding down the proximity sensor. pry it loose and fold the tab over the ear speaker. you can now replace it. have a nice repair

Awesome! Thank you so much. From looking at the pics and the phone(s), it looked like there was a tab over the speaker. Very glad to hear it can be done without removing the entire cable. Thank you again!
