Randomly shuts down for no reason

My MacBook Core 2 Duo late 2006 2.0GHz A1181 shuts down for no reason. there if no difference if im working on it or not. Sometimes it shows me the shutdown menu (im running 10.6.8). This only seem to happen if i have my top-case connected. without top-case and with usb mouse and keyboard everyting runs fine. I already checked the temperatures but they are normal. Even with gaming i reach 60-65 Celcius.

Do i need to replace the top case or is it a problem with the connector on the mainboard?

BTW. with topcase connected the keyboard, mouse and power button are working.

Sorry for the big delay on my new post. Resetting the SMC didnt help. I ordered a new topcase and the problem is completely gone after replacing it with the old. I think there was a short circuit in the old one that was not easily to repair. Now completely working.

mostly the topcase, try cleaning the power button connector and see, maybe there's something ,if that is not doing nothing, then it's the cable that connects it to the mainboard

I already tried another cable to connect it with. The problem is still there. The power button connecter is cleaned and still the problem. And its randomly. sometimes 1 minute after starting it happens. and sometimes i can be on it for 30 max before it happens.

try reseting the SMC which can address unexpected shutdowns: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 , let us know if it solves the problem
