Boots up, but screen is white, external display works perfectly?

Hello, this is my first question so be gentle on me please.. First my clutch cover severed from the left screw point and started to come off. Then, the screws from the left clutch hinge lost the screws from the display side. I left it go because I'm lazy (wish I would have fixed it sooner) and the display data cable started to fray and the wires were exposed. Then, one day the screen just went white and won't work. I've attached the computer to an external display and the computer functions flawlessly. I figured it was the data display cable, so I ordered one as well as a clutch cover, 8gb of ram (had 2gb), and a 750gb hard drive. I first replaced the ram, assembled it and tested it and everything worked perfect with the external display. I then changed the data display cable and clutch cover but the screen stayed the same. I did some searching and read that it might be the hard drive. So I put the new hard drive in and the screen was still white. I just tested it with an external and it still works. Is it the LCD display? I'm hoping so, because they are a lot cheaper than a logic board..

First change the Display Clampshell with Good working Clampshell. if the problem solved then okies. other wise do a SMC reset with good working display. Check the logic board for any damage like display jack is okay ? or components near by. if all the things are fine thats means logic board need repair or need to replace for normal working.

Thank you for the fast response. I used my fiance's a1342 monitor in my a1342 and mine in hers. Neither functioned. Do I need to do a SMC with both sets to test functionality? I'm not too great with computers. There is no visual damage showing (as far as I can tell) with the logic board or display jack.
