Received a message and went to access it. when i tried to press the message icon nothing happen. So I switched off the phone and waited a few minutes before switching back on. I could now read the message, but all my contact names were/are missing. All the numbers and text messages are still there, but no names to work out who is who. Any ideas please?

Are you using iCloud or are you backing up to your computer?
If you are using iCloud then:
1. Go to iCloud.com on a computer.
2. Sign in with apple ID
3. Click contacts
4. If your contacts are gone from there then you may be out of luck. Send a complaint to Apple, they might be able to help
If you are using computer then I need your computer information. On a Mac it is simple, but I don't know about Windows but I can find out when you reply.
