Dripped coffee on laptop, keyboard not working?

MacBook didn't boot, but charge light worked (on green). Took battery out and saw drop of liquid. Removed RAM, saw tiny bit of liquid there, bit sticky. Cleaned that and left open.

When put back later (not same day), charged battery, turned it on and booted fine. However pointer up in left hand corner by Apple logo, keyboard/trackpad not working at all. Followed your guide and took top cover off, found tiny bit of "sticky" drop on board and I noticed some corrosion (greenish), on brass and right to the side of it.

Is there something I can clean it with?

Do you think it will help? Is it possible only keyboard/TP might need replacing or the entire logic board, Ouch! my life is on this laptop! All else seems to be ok, well the sound. There has been no testing of logic board with screws in as per your guide for non-working keyboard/trackpad. No testing at all that I know of.

Haven't tried external mouse, don't have one or keyboard. Please Help!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I´d recommend you to try as you said, an external usb mouse and keyboard, if those work then it means the computer is still working and you may need to replace the keyboard and the trackpad.

MACBOOK IS UP AND RUNNING AFTER STICKY SPILL!

FYI: Had to sign in with Google, couldn't remember my other password but original question was by Anthony, me (think tbn user name)

Well wanted to update everyone. I did spill tea coffee something on MacBook A1181. As

reported the key board wasn't working was sure I would need at least new keyboard if not logic board! Had a drop on battery, one on memory card & another on logic board after taking apart!

I found some spray at local computer small time store called "Tronic Kleen" & when I had it apart I used it liberally as directed on can. Dries pretty fast. I sprayed the logic board, keypad, battery compartment, hard drive and both my Ram cards! Let it sit after gently blotting some areas with non-static non-lint wipes (like kind you can wipe your nice paint job on car with, mine is BMW Z3), let it sit open in my linen closet which in Florida is about least muggy place I could find for another 4 days. All together it was open/apart for about a week.

Today I tentatively put it back together praying the entire time it would work. Been told by so many (not here), that I was screwed blued and tattooed (Apple etal), that I was dreading putting it back together. Some things are better not known when they cost as much as a new MacBook ya know?

Ok, big moment: it's back together, plugged in Mag safe charger got green light that went straight to red. After battery had been out for a week? More nervous now especially when one of the screws were sticking to plastic (?) case like it was magnetised. But hey it can only not work like it had after spill!

Voila,

IT IS WORKING!!!! After the good cleaning a couple of keys that sometimes wouldn't work until you hit them about 5-10 times worked straight off. Ran systems check verify disc everything came up ROSES.

Maybe I'm lucky or maybe I'm careful (when cleaning etc), but don't think it's the end of the world if you do spill something on your laptop. Might be, but then again...careful cleaning (praying probably didn't hurt), letting it dry completely and this amazing spray that I'd never heard of and you might just get your laptop back!

Oh, and please if any naysayers here going to tell me "Wait awhile it will still be fried!" Nah. don't believe it. Something surely would have shown up in all the tests I ran!

GREAT NEWS, at least for this person who will NEVER drink anything near his MacBook again!

A big thanks as well to everyone on this forum with their great ideas. All appreciated!
